Music

To accompany thoses dances, the tambourinaire uses two instruments :

• the galoubet (little flute with three holes), played with the left hand

• the tambourin (long and thin drum) hit with the right hand, using a massette to give the rhythm

The répertoire has settled since the XVI th century, transcribing the fashion arias of each period, or taking inspiration from them.

The music is light and rhythmical.

The tambourinaires accompany the dances with the galoubet and the tambourin.
